Import Your Contacts

Bring your existing contact list into SIMBLAI — field mapping, tagging on import, and how duplicates are handled.

Moving from spreadsheets or another CRM? A CSV import brings everyone in at once, tagged and organized. CSV only (export from Excel or Sheets as .csv first), one sheet, header row required, up to 30 MB.

Steps

  1. Go to Contacts and click Import Contacts.
  2. Choose what to import — contacts only, or contacts with opportunities — then upload your CSV.
  3. Pick the import type: create new contacts, update existing ones, or both.
  4. Map each CSV column to a field. If a column has no matching field, either create the custom field first or skip the column.
  5. On the preferences screen, tag the imported contacts (e.g., "imported-jan") and optionally add them to a smart list or workflow.
  6. Confirm you have consent to contact these people, then start the import.
  7. Watch progress under Contacts → Bulk Actions — click Show Stats for the success/error counts and download the error log if anything failed.

Good to know

  • Create custom fields before importing — columns with no matching field can't be mapped.
  • Rows need at least a name, email, or phone; phone numbers with spaces or letters fail.
  • Duplicates aren't created: the system matches by email or phone and merges — clean duplicate rows inside your CSV first.
  • Always tag every import. It's your undo button if something maps wrong.
