Your New Website Checklist: What to Update First

← Back to Support Center

Your website was built and launched for you — but a few details only you can confirm. Run through this checklist once and your site is truly yours.

1. Check your business information

  • Business name spelled exactly the way you use it everywhere else
  • Phone number and email — click them on your own site to confirm they dial and address correctly
  • Physical address and service area, if shown
  • Business hours, if shown

2. Read every page once

Read your site the way a customer would. Look for services you no longer offer, offerings that are missing, and anything worded in a way you wouldn't say it. Small wording fixes are quick — see How to Edit Your Website.

3. Swap in your own photos where it matters

Stock and AI imagery gets a site launched, but real photos of your work, your team, and your space convert better. Prioritize the homepage hero and any "about" imagery first.

4. Test your contact form

Submit your own form and make sure the lead shows up. This is the single most important check on the list — a broken form fails silently. Follow How to Test Your Website Forms.

5. Connect your domain

If your site is still on a temporary address, point your own domain at it so customers see your brand in the address bar — Connecting Your Domain walks through it.

6. Tell Google you exist

Set up Google Search Console, submit your sitemap, and connect your Google Business Profile. The SEO guide covers each step.

Do these six things and you're ahead of most new websites. Everything else — new content, more photos, extra pages — can come gradually.
