A site that "isn't loading" is almost always a domain/DNS issue, and almost always fixable in minutes. Work down this list in order.
1. Confirm what's actually failing
- Try your site's system URL (the address it had before you connected a domain). If that loads, your site is fine — the issue is the domain.
- Try your domain on your phone with Wi-Fi off. If it loads there, the problem is your computer's or network's cache, not the site.
2. If you connected the domain recently
DNS changes take time to spread — usually under an hour, occasionally up to 24. If it's been less than a day, wait before changing anything; edits during propagation restart the clock.
3. Check the DNS records
- Open your domain host's DNS settings and compare each record against what the connect screen asked for — exact host names, exact values, no extras.
- On Cloudflare, the record must be DNS only (gray cloud), not proxied.
- Delete old records pointing the same host somewhere else — two competing records cause intermittent failures.
4. Clear your cache
If others can see the site but you can't, force-refresh (Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+R) or try a private window.
5. Check publishing
If the domain resolves but shows an old or blank page, the page may be saved but not published — see How Publishing Works.
Still down after all five? Contact support with your domain name and when you made the change — we'll diagnose the DNS with you.
