Missed-Call Text-Back

Automatically text anyone whose call you miss — so the lead that couldn't reach you doesn't call your competitor.

Most missed calls never leave a voicemail — they just call the next business. Missed-call text-back fires an instant SMS ("Sorry we missed you! How can we help?") that keeps the conversation alive. It's the single highest-ROI switch in the system.

Steps

  1. Go to Settings → Phone System → Voice and open Voicemail & Missed Call Text Back.
  2. Check Enable Missed Call Text Back.
  3. Click Customize and write your message — short and human: "Hi, this is [Your Business]. Sorry we missed your call — how can we help?"
  4. Send yourself a test, then Save.
  5. In the same Voice settings, set the incoming call timeout to 10–20 seconds so calls fail over quickly.
  6. Replies land in your Conversations inbox and on the mobile app — answer them fast.

Good to know

  • It texts on every missed call. If repeat callers getting repeat texts becomes an issue, rebuild it as a workflow with a wait/filter to throttle.
  • Requires an active number with approved A2P registration to deliver in the US.
  • Personalization merge fields only fill in when the caller is already a contact — write a message that works without a name.
